Big6 #1 Task Definition

TASK:  Multigenre projects are an exciting new project in language arts classes across the country.  They are composed of different types of writing (genres) all on the same topic, each exploring a different aspect of the topic.  The best part is that multigenre projects give students a choice in the final product.  Your class will pilot this project idea for our school.

What information do I need to know to do this?  (Teacher-provided questions)

  1. What genres do we experience in daily life?
  2. What stylistic devices have we studied this year?
  3. How are these stylistic devices used in the above genres?
  4. How does the author determine the importance of stylistic devices?
  5. How can we create a culminating project that illustrates your command of various genres and stylistic devices?
  6. What topics would be appropriate for this type of project?

GUMS
(20 pts)

I took risks in sentence structure and complexity. I chose the best sentence formation to convey my meaning.  I made some errors in my draft but these were corrected in my final edit.

I made some errors, perhaps by taking risks and using interesting words or sentences.  I usually chose the best sentence formation to convey my meaning.

My spelling is correct on common words. Some errors in grammar and punctuation. Little risks were taken in sentence formation and structure.

Frequent errors are distracting.
