Guidance Office Hours
Jefferson
High School will have a Guidance Counselor available to meet with
students and parents over the summer according to the following
schedule and times:
Every
Tuesday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
June 16th, 23rd, and 30th
July 7th, and 14th
All
students and parents are encouraged to take advantage of this
schedule if they are in need of assistance from one of our
counselors.

Record
Setters!
Markala Hester and Erin Knight, shown here in the Jefferson Relays,
both broke school records in their respective events at the state
meet in Albany this weekend. Markayla set a new school record (for
the third time this year) in the triple jump, and Erin broke a 28
year old record in the 800m. These performances were also good for a
couple of fifth places. Congratulations!
National
History Day state finalists!
Congratulations
to our National History Day state finalists! On
Saturday, Jefferson competed in the state finals for National Day in
Macon, GA. Entered in the historical documentary category, both
Jefferson teams made it through the preliminaries and into the final
round of judging. Sophomores Ben Daniel and Artie Nicolaus finished
4th in state with their documentary entitled Crawford
W. Long: No Pain, All Gain (This documentary will soon be on
display at the Crawford W. Long Museum downtown). Finishing 2nd
in the state competition were Clara Logue, Sarah Beggs and Josh
Whitfield. The title of their entry was Upton Sinclair: The Man
Who Showed America to Herself.
Clara,
Sarah and Josh will be one of two teams to represent the state of
Georgia at the National History Day finals in June (14th-18th).
The contest will be held at the University of Maryland, College Park
and Jefferson will compete with the top two entries from every other
U.S. state and territory.

of the state playoffs, but not before claiming a region championship.
